Canal Bill Pledge

With the announcement of the General Election earlier in the year, the IWAI launched a campaign calling for the introduction of a stand alone Canals Bill as an alternative to the amendments proposed to the Canals Act 1986 contained in the Heritage Bill 2016. This campaign has received strong cross party support and with the inauguration of the 32nd Dáil, a number of Deputies have indicated that they would support the progression and adoption of a stand alone Canals Bill as the most effective method of modernizing and future proofing canals legislation to ensure their protection for the next generations to enjoy. The details appear left.
